How it spreads
Bites from infected Aedes mosquitoes, mainly during the day.
Symptoms and context
Fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle or joint pain and rash.
Prevention
Prevent mosquito bites and remove standing water. Ask local health services about vaccine eligibility.
When to seek advice
Seek urgent care for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding or rapid breathing. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen if dengue is suspected.
